CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br />WHEREAS Sergeant Terry M. Nelson joined the City of New Brighton as a Police Officer on August <br />23, 1990; and <br />WHEREAS Terry served his entire career of 30 years, 4 months, and 8 days in the patrol section, <br />including the last 20 years as a supervisor, and <br />WHEREAS During the course of his career, Terry served as a Field Training Officer (FTO) for 16 <br />recruits, was the agency's lead firearms instructor for 25 years, and was the <br />department's traffic safety coordinator for 19 years; and <br />WHEREAS Terry received numerous awards and recognitions, including the 1992 Police Officer <br />of the Year, 2018 Traffic Safety Officer of the Year, six lifesaving awards, seven letters <br />of commendation, and three letters of recognition; and <br />WHEREAS Terry worked his final patrol shift on December 315; 2020, leaving the Police Division <br />to pursue other interests; <br />NOW, THEREFORE I, KART NIEDFELD T- THOMAS, Mayor of The City of New Brighton, Minnesota, in <br />recognition of Terry's 30 years of service to the citizens of New Brighton, members of Public Safety, and <br />all other City staff, present this proclamation, offering our sincerest congratulations, and do hereby <br />proclaim <br />Terry M.
