Assessment of Need 17CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON PARK AND TRAIL SYSTEM MASTER PLAN - DRAFT <br />Tony Schmidt Regional Park <br />A regional park managed by Ramsey <br />County Parks, located on the east <br />side of I-35W, and situated on the <br />shores of Lake Johanna. It is a popular <br />community park with a swimming <br />beach, shelter, ballfield, pavilion <br />(with event rental space), multiple <br />playgrounds, public boat access and <br />parking, fishing pier, trails and picnic <br />areas. <br />Municipal Parks and Facilities <br />Mounds View Community Center <br />The Mounds View Community Center <br />houses the Mounds View parks and <br />recreation department similar to New <br />Brighton. It also offers programming <br />through the city as well as the YMCA. <br />The facility includes a large gym, fitness <br />center, meeting rooms and event <br />center. The community center recently underwent <br />upgrades and an expansion. It is the biggest competitor to the New Brighton Community Center <br />due to its popularity and location close to the city. <br />Innsbruck Nature Center <br />This is a 24-acre open space park with trails that is managed by City of Fridley, located just <br />outside New Brighton. <br />Water Recreation <br />Boating and Fishing <br />Long Lake Regional Park has a boat access on the southern shore of Long Lake that is <br />managed by Ramsey County. There is also a fishing pier next to the public boat access.
