Assessment of Need 30CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON PARK AND TRAIL SYSTEM MASTER PLAN - DRAFT
Athletic Associations
The athletic associations include the communities that are served by the school district which
includes multiple municipalities:
»Arden Hills
»Mounds View
»New Brighton
»North Oaks
»Roseville
»Shoreview
»Vadnais Heights
»Portions of Spring Lake Park and White Bear Township
The vast majority of participants come from Shoreview followed by Irondale and New Brighton
with the least amount of participants coming from western side of the school district. Some
associations have set policies or by-laws requiring participants to be residents of the school
district communities, and even those that may not have this requirement typically see the
majority of their users come from within the school district. Although school district enrollment
levels are a significant predictor of athletic program participation rates, there are other factors
to take into consideration in determining needs. Some programs are expanding to be more
competitive with other districts, others are expanding in terms of seasons of play, the age
groups being served, and levels of skill development, which all impact the facility needs.
Map 2.9 - Moundsview Public Schools Source: Moundsview School District
