<br /> <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission <br />June 3, 2020 City Hall <br />Council Chambers 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Axberg. Chair Axberg welcomed Pauline <br />Alfors and Gary Bank to the Commission. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call: <br />Members Present: Commissioners Pam Axberg (Chair), Pauline Alfors, Gary Bank, Amelia <br />Kuiper, Matt Johnson, Abe McEathron, Julia O’Rourke, Mike Santi, and Charles Warner. <br /> <br />Members Absent: None. <br /> <br />Also Present: Director Jennifer Fink; Assistant Director Jason Hicks; and Council Member <br />Emily Dunsworth. <br /> <br />III. Approval of Agenda <br /> <br />Motion by Bank, seconded by Johnson to approve the agenda as amended adding Item B under <br />Business Items for the Election of a Chair and Vice Chair. Motion carried 9-0. <br /> <br />IV. Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by McEathron, seconded by O’Rourke to approve the May 6, 2020 minutes as presented. <br />Motion carried 7-0-2 (Alfors and Bank abstained). <br /> <br />V. Business Items <br /> <br />A. Review of 2020 Projects – Craig Schlichting, Director Community Assets and <br />Development <br /> <br />Director Schlichting provided the Commission with a presentation on the work that would be <br />completed by MnDOT, Ramsey County, private developers and the City in 2020. It was <br />noted the MnPASS project was in its second year and work would be focused on sound walls <br />and the center corridor. Staff commented on how New Brighton would be impacted by <br />diverting traffic. He explained the City’s logo would be placed on the sound walls <br />constructed in New Brighton. He reviewed the streets that would be reconstructed by the City <br />and Ramsey County. The plans for Midtown Village and the Benedictine Health Care <br />Facility were discussed with the Commission. Staff commented on the renovations that <br />would occur at the Public Works Facility. The future pans for the Old Highway 8 corridor
