<br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />Development Gozola reported the condition was quite broad and the applicant could explore <br />what would work for them financially. <br />Chair Nichols-Matkaiti asked if the SUP were revoked would this impact both businesses. <br />Assistant Director of Community Assets and Development Gozola explained the way the language <br />was drafted by staff a violation for one business would effect that one business and not the <br />other. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen inquired if a condition was required to protect the creek. Assistant <br />Director of Community Assets and Development Gozola reported a barrier was not in place <br />currently, except for the existing trees. He commented if something was needed this would be <br />communicated to the applicant. <br />Chair Nichols-Matkaiti opened the Public Hearing at 7:46 p.m. <br />Chair Nichols-Matkaiti questioned if the applicants supported the staff recommended conditions. <br />Denise Volk, A Tree Service, commented her company was a tree service and she did not do <br />landscaping. She noted she supported the staff recommended conditions. <br />Charlie Longbella, Big Blue Box, reported he supported the recommended conditions and noted <br />no wood chipping would occur on the site. He explained his goal for this lot was to have outdoor <br />storage in times of need. <br />Motion by Commissioner Frischman, seconded by Commissioner McQuillan to close the Public <br />Hearing. <br />A roll call vote was taken. Approved 7-0. <br />Commissioner Frischman recommended Condition 2 be amended to allow for white pine trees or <br />any tree mutually agreed upon between the applicant and the City Forester. <br />Chair Nichols-Matkaiti supported this recommendation. <br />Commissioner Biedenfeld suggested Public Safety also be brought in to ensure sight line were not <br />blocked by the new trees. Assistant Director of Community Assets and Development Gozola <br />anticipated the City Engineers could manage the tree plantings. <br />Commissioner Nelson recommended the trees planted (per Condition 2) be planted for screening <br />purposes. Assistant Director of Community Assets and Development Gozola recommended <br />Condition 2 read: To address aesthetics from the west, the property owner shall plant up to four <br />(4) white pine trees or other appropriate screening species as agreed upon between the applicant <br />and the City Forester along the western border of the property outside of the ROW as directed by <br />the City Forester. The trees shall be planted in accordance with the City Forester. <br />The Commission supported this change.
