1 RESOLUTION STATE OF MINNESOTA COUNTY OF RAMSEY CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON RESOLUTION MAKING FINDINGS OF FACT AND APPROVING A SPECIAL USE PERMIT TO AUTHORIZE IMPROVEMENTS TO SUNNYSIDE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AT 2070 COUNTY ROAD H WHEREAS, the City of New Brighton is a municipal corporation, organized and existing under the laws of the State of Minnesota; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of the New Brighton has adopted a comprehensive plan and corresponding zoning regulations to promote orderly development and utilization of land within the city; and, WHEREAS, Sunnyside Elementary School, located at 2070 County Road H with the property identification number of 18-30-23-12-0001, has existed at that address for decades and has not caused any known problems with the surrounding area; and WHEREAS, the Mounds View Public School District (the “Applicant”) made application to the City on 19/16/19 for a special use permit to authorize improvements Sunnyside Elementary School; and WHEREAS, the proposed improvements include an expansion of the school’s cafeteria, the addition of classroom space, and a redesign of the bus drop off area intended to improve student safety; and WHEREAS, staff fully reviewed the request and prepared a report for consideration by the Planning Commission at their meeting on October 15, 2019; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission held a public hearing on the request at the October 15th meeting and considered input from residents; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission recommended approval of the request on October 15th based on the applicant’s submittals and findings of fact; and WHEREAS, the City Council considered on October 22nd, 2019, the recommendations of the Planning Commission, Staff, the Applicant's submissions, the contents of the staff report, and other evidence available to the Council.
