<br /> <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />Public Safety Commission <br />December 10, 2018 City Hall <br />Council Chambers 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:33 p.m. by Chair Hollimon. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call: <br />Members Present: Commissioners Robert Boyd, Sara Conway, William Cook, Amina Ghouse, <br />Geoff Hollimon, Tanya Kessler, and Karen Wagner. <br /> <br />Members Absent: Commissioners Stephanie Malone, and Matthew Palmeri. <br /> <br />Also Present: Director Tony Paetznick, Council Member Emily Dunsworth and Dave Matteson <br />(Allina Health). <br /> <br />III. Approval of Agenda <br /> <br />Motion by Kessler, seconded by Conway to approve the December 10, 2018 agenda as <br />presented. Motion carried 7-0. <br /> <br />IV. Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Kessler, seconded by Conway to approve the October 8, 2018 minutes as presented. <br />Motion carried 7-0. <br /> <br />V. Presentations and Public Hearings <br /> <br />A. Police Body Worn Camera Update – Tony Paetznick, Public Safety Director <br /> <br />Director Paetznick updated the Commission on Police body worn cameras. He explained he <br />had provided the City Council with a presentation on this topic and reported the IT <br />department was now in place to support this endeavor. He indicated this topic would come <br />before the Council as a public hearing in January 2019. He described how body worn <br />cameras would touch on the six pillars of 21st Century Policing. He discussed several <br />studies that had been completed on the impact of body worn cameras. He was pleased to <br />report that New Brighton residents has positive views of its policing. <br /> <br />Discussion included: <br /> There was a discussion as to how many data requests other agencies were having. <br /> The long-term impact of body worn cameras was discussed.
