Allina Health – Dave Matteson <br /> <br />Dave Mattson provided the Commission with an update from Allina. He explained Brian <br />LaCroix, the President of Allina for the past 22 years would be retiring next April. He <br />anticipated the organization would complete a national search for his replacement. He <br />commented further on the restructuring that would occur at Allina after Brian LaCroix <br />retires. He reported his senior leadership team was strategically planning for EMS in the <br />future. He provided further comment on alternate response models for EMS services. He <br />explained there was a nationwide and statewide shortage for paramedics and stated he would <br />be working to recruit individuals into this field. He commented on several of the more <br />serious calls that occurred in New Brighton in November. He then described the recent <br />training his paramedics had received. <br /> <br />B. Public Safety Update – Director Paetznick <br /> <br />Director Paetznick provided the Commission with an update from the Public Safety <br />Department. He highlighted the weekly memo that was now being completed for <br />Commissioners. He noted New Brighton received 2nd Place in the nation for National Night <br />Out. He commented on the positive outcomes of the 911 closest dispatch system and was <br />pleased to report all Ramsey County Fire Departments would be receiving an award from the <br />University of Minnesota Humphrey Institute for Leading Local Government Innovation <br />Award. He reported his department was working to wrap up gifts for the Santa Cop program <br />and thanked the community for their generous donations. <br /> <br />C. City Council Update – Emily Dunsworth, Councilmember <br /> <br />Councilmember Dunsworth reported the Council would be holding a Truth in Taxation <br />meeting on Tuesday, December 11th. She noted the Council would be approving the 2019 <br />budget and levy at this meeting. She explained the Council was proposing a 9.84% levy <br />increase which equated to a $7 per month increase for the median family homeowner. She <br />commented further on the proposed increases for the coming year, noting a portion was for <br />debt free streets. <br /> <br />VII.
