<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Council Worksession <br />December 3, 2019 <br />5:00 pm <br /> <br />Present: Mayor Valerie Johnson <br /> Councilmember Mary Burg <br /> Councilmember Emily Dunsworth <br /> Councilmember Paul Jacobsen <br />Absent: Councilmember Graeme Allen <br /> <br />Staff in Attendance: Devin Massopust, Brenda Davitt, Craig Schlichting, Jennifer Fink, Tony Paetznick <br /> <br />Guests in Attendance: Liza Donabauer, DDA Human Resources, Inc. <br /> <br />Discuss City Manager Recruitment Process and Materials <br />Massopust stated Liza Donabauer was in attendance to review the City Manager recruitment process with the <br />Council. <br /> <br />Liza Donabauer, DDA Human Resources, Inc., introduced herself to the Council and stated she would be <br />looking for feedback from the Council on the City Manager’s profile, salary, job description and the proposed <br />hiring schedule. She noted her goal would be for the Council for formally approve this information on <br />Tuesday, December 10th so she could get the job posted in January. <br /> <br />Further discussion ensued regarding updates that were needed to the organizational chart. <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson commented on the job description and recommended the core values be updated to include one <br />set of services shall be provided for one City. She indicated she did not like the fact that Silver Lake Road and <br />the Rice Creek area were called out for redevelopment. She recommended Old Highway 8 be included instead. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jacobsen agreed with this recommendation and suggested the New Brighton Exchange also be <br />included. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dunsworth commented business aspects will be a large focus for the new City Manager. She <br />recommended this be made a bigger focus within the position profile document and that the Comp Plan also be <br />addressed. <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson supported this recommendation and suggested the City’s businesses be embellished within the <br />recruiting document. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dunsworth suggested the City’s strong financial position also be highlighted within the <br />document. <br /> <br />Fink recommended the new City Manager have a desired attribute that includes big vision for the City. The <br />Council agreed with this suggestion. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dunsworth requested the reference to New Brighton being a progressive City be changed to
