<br /> <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br /> <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION: CONSIDER PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH BARR ENGINEERING <br />FOR A WATER SYSTEM RISK AND RESILIENCY ASSESSMENT AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLAN <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD’S APPROVAL: Craig Schlichting – Director of Community Assets and <br />Development <br />CITY MANAGER APPROVAL: <br /> <br /> <br />No comments to supplement this report _______ Comments attached ______ <br /> <br />Recommendation: Authorize the Director of Community Assets and Development to enter into a contract <br />with Barr Engineering Company to authorize preparation of a Risk and Resiliency Document (RRA) and <br />update the existing Emergency Response Plan (ERP). <br /> <br />Legislative History: N/A <br /> <br />Financial Impact: Staff received a February 3, 2020 proposal from Barr Engineering Co. A copy of their <br />proposal is attached to this report. The total estimated fees and expenses for their work tasks are as <br />follows: <br /> <br /> Task 1 – Develop the RRA $19,500 <br /> Task 2 – Update the ERP $17,000 <br /> Total Estimated Fees and Expenses $36,500 <br /> <br />Explanation: The purpose of this project is to provide risk and resiliency assessment and emergency <br />response planning services for the City of New Brighton’s (City’s) public water system to comply with the <br />new US EPA American Water Infrastructure Act (AWIA) of 2018 requirements. The City is requesting <br />assistance with developing the required two parts of the AWIA; 1) the risk and resiliency assessment (RRA) <br />and 2) the emergency response plan (ERP).
