Councilmember Allen explained he was really pleased to hear that the County would be focusing on affordable
housing as this would greatly benefit cities.

Mr. Holdhusen discussed the great work being done by the Housing For All Initiative. He noted that
homelessness in Ramsey County had grown by 10% since 2007.

Councilmember Dunsworth thanked the County for providing this valuable information to the Council.

Councilmember Allen commented the supply of low income housing units was too low at this time and
without these units available, more and more people were becoming homeless. He asked if the County had
funds available to assist with safety initiatives in multi-family housing units. Ms. Collins reported CDBG
funds could be used to assist with this.

Mayor Johnson reported the City recently approved a housing project that would have 358 affordable units at
60% AMI with 204 units being senior and 154 units for workforce housing. She stated she was proud of the
fact this development was being constructed in New Brighton.

Worksession adjourned at 6:08 pm

Respectfully submitted,

Terri Spangrud
City Clerk
