From:no-reply@www.newbrightonmn.gov
To:Devin Massopust
Subject:City Council Vacancy Application of Interest - New Form Submission for New Brighton MN
Date:Sunday, April 19, 2020 2:26:01 PM
A new submission has been received for City Council Vacancy Application
of Interest at 04/19/2020 2:25 PM
First Name:Pamela
Last Name:Axberg
Email Address:Pstegor@me.com
Phone:6517178581
Address:1427 Brookshire Court
City:New Brighton
State/Province:MN
Country:US
Zip Code:551126390
What is your
background as it
relates to
community
involvement
within New
Brighton?:
I’ve been a New Brighton resident for the past 15 years, and then an
additional 5 years from 1999 - 2005. During this time, I’ve been active in
the Park and Recreation Department as a volunteer soccer coach (fall and
spring) for about 10 years. My children attended Ed-Venture when it first
started. Most recently, I’ve been a Commissioner on PREC, serving as
the Chair this past year. Other community activities have been as a Girl
Scout Troop Leader Troop 50948 for 12 year for a troop out of Bel
Air/Highview/Irondale. In addition, I was a New Brighton Service Unit
Girl Scout leader - Registar for several years. I was the Parent Volunteer
for the Irondale Nordic Ski team and as the Board volunteer for the
Irondale New Brighton Nordic Ski trails.
Why are you
interested in
serving on the
City Council?:
I am interested to continue to learn how I can maintain and advance the
quality of our community. I am deeply committed to having parks and
trails that serve all members of our community, regardless of age,
physical abilities, or racial or ethic background. I want to support the
citizens of New Brighton to continue to make it the right type of
community where people want to continue to live and others wants to
come and live in.
What are your
top 3-5 policy
priorities for the
City?:
I think COVID-19 might impact the city’s current plans. So how the City
adjusts to the new reality emerges will be important - from safety of the
citizens, to access to the right facilities, to balancing the budget. Coming
from PREC, I’m interested in getting approval of the Park & Recreation
Long Term Strategic Plan. Ensuring that City services continue to
operate effectively and efficiency for the citizens is always priority.
What are your
goals as a
Councilmember
for the remainder
As a “new council member” I want to align to the current goals of the
Council and the plan they have laid out for 2020. I want to bring my best
self to the Council, share my insights and my experiences in a thoughtful
and constructive manner, and then actively support the collective
decision of the Council both publicly and privately. I am interested in
