of 2020?:learning is this is a role and learning more about the City and how the
City operates.
The Council
enjoys great
working
relationships with
one another. How
will you ensure
you work to
continue those
good working
relationships with
other
councilmembers?:
I believe one of my personal strengths is developing strong working
relationships with colleagues, including those who may or many not have
the same insights or perspectives as myself. If everyone can bring their
own experiences and perspectives and engage in constructive,
meaningful dialog, we are able to make better decisions for our
community and the citizens we service. We know that when we can have
diversity of thought, we can have more robust discussions that lead to
better short-term and long-term decisions. I have a long history of
working in complex organizations with a variety of people. I work hard
to approach people and situations “with positive intent”. And, from my
experience I have learned that if one takes time to build relationships
with others, it provides a solid foundation for dealing with conflict in a
positive and constructive manner. If we start with positive intent, we will
be open to hearing things differently, which might also result in learning
new things, or in having an awareness to a blind spot one might not have
seen. I will personally work to build relationships with my colleagues so
that we have a foundation so everyone can share their opinions and feel
life their opinion is heard and valid. I hope that my colleagues will learn
to trust me and will appreciate that I come with integrity and
transparency in terms of my role to serve the community interests.
What skills and
interests do you
have that would
make you an
effective
councilmember?:
I have a unique combination of private industry, non-profit, and
government leadership experience. I have worked as an executive in
telecommunications and healthcare - two very important industries. In
non-profit, I’m a Board member of YWCA USA, Girl Scouts River
Valley, Junior Achievement and Topline Credit Union. I have focused on
youth, education, social services and Diversity/Equity/Inclusion work. In
government, I have been a Humphrey Public Policy Fellow and am the
current Chair of PREC. For skills and experience, I have significant
strategic planning, operations, customer management and
finance/budgeting skills. I have have lead large matrix organizations to
achieve goals. I have strong interpersonal skills coupled with strong
written and oral communications. I am proud of my ethical leadership.
Please confirm
you are legally
eligible to hold
public office in
New Brighton by
answering the
following
questions::
Are you a U.S.
Citizen?:Yes
Are you 21 years
of age or older?:Yes
Are you a
resident of New
Brighton?:
Yes
