<br /> <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION: RECOGNITION OF TOM BAUER, NAMING HIM AS CITY AMBASSADOR <br />UPON HIS RETIREMENT <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD’S APPROVAL: Craig Schlichting – Director of Community Assets and <br />Development <br />CITY MANAGER APPROVAL: <br /> <br /> <br />No comments to supplement this report _______ Comments attached ______ <br />Recommendation: <br />Mayor Johnson on behalf of the City Council, will name Tom Bauer, Maintenance Worker, a City <br />Ambassador upon his retirement after 42 years of service to the City of New Brighton. <br /> <br />Legislative History: <br />None <br /> <br />Explanation: <br />Tom began his career in Public Works on March 20, 1978. Tom has spent his time in Public Works <br />as a maintenance worker and a crew chief. He spent countless hours in a plow truck, a street <br />sweeper, and on a paving crew. Tom has dedicated his career to ensuring that the residents of <br />New Brighton were able to travel safely in the winter, didn’t have to dodge potholes, and their <br />utilities were in working order. <br /> <br />Tom’s knowledge and dedication to the City of New Brighton will be missed. His tenure with the <br />city is something that is rarely seen in employees and is from a time gone by. <br /> <br />Per the Employee Handbook, Section 33.3, employees who retire with 20+ years of service be <br />named as a City Ambassador by the City Council.
