13 <br /> <br />Director Tony Paetznick was invited to a meeting with Mounds View School District <br />transportation officials on February 27 to discuss school bus stop arm violations, bus <br />driver practices, and pedestrian crosswalks, especially along the Old Highway 8 SW <br />corridor. Officer Pyka followed up on the topic and conducted extra traffic enforcement <br />on Old Highway 8 SW near Foss Road on February 28. He ultimately witnessed a <br />motorist proceed through the stop arm and flashing red lights of a school bus as it <br />dropped off students. He stopped the driver and cited her for the offense. <br /> <br />Community Engagement Officer Krebsbach reports that no multi-family communities in <br />New Brighton were above the provisional license threshold for July-December 2018. <br />The citywide average was .08 calls for service per unit during the six-month period. <br />Public Safety has been tracking this data since the licensing ordinance that holds property <br />owners/managers and tenants accountable for behavior at licensed multiple dwellings <br />(four or more units) was established in 2001. <br /> <br /> <br />VI. BIAS CRIME REPORTS <br /> <br />This section will contain any information regarding bias and/or hate crimes in the City of <br />New Brighton. <br /> <br />There were no bias crime reports this month. <br /> <br /> <br />VII. VOLUNTEER SERVICES <br /> <br />This section contains information on our various volunteer organizations related to Public <br />Safety. This includes the activities of the Public Safety Commission, Police Reserves, <br />Police Explorers, and Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS). <br /> <br />Activity for the month includes the following: <br /> <br />In February, the VIPS met for their quarterly meeting where they discussed the events of <br />2018. The VIPS unit also continued with their handling of the Thursday morning <br />fingerprinting for the public. A total of eight people were fingerprinted in the month of <br />February. <br /> <br />The Police Explorer program met every Sunday during the month of February as they <br />continued with their training for their upcoming State Explorer Competition. <br /> <br /> <br />VIII. HOMELAND SECURITY AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT <br /> <br />This section will review ongoing activities for homeland security and emergency <br />management. This includes the activities of the New Brighton Community Emergency <br />Response Teams (CERT).
