13 <br />Several New Brighton firefighters attended weekend training hosted by the Minnesota <br />State Fire Chiefs Association at the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center, <br />participating in a variety of educational workshops. <br /> <br />On March 25, firefighters received classroom instruction from Larry Nadeau, Director of <br />the Minnesota Highway Safety & Research Center at St. Cloud State University, on the <br />topic of advanced driver training for fire apparatus operators. Newer firefighters will <br />travel to their road course facility in the coming months for behind-the-wheel practice. <br /> <br />Officer Xiong and Officer Amberg attended a Basic Narcotics course. <br /> <br />Officer Kingslien attended a class presented by the BCA called “Maxims and Truths.” <br /> <br />Officer Xiong attended a class on writing search warrants. <br /> <br />On March 13 and March 20, Sgt. Emerson and Sgt. Sypniewski conducted our annual <br />inclement weather shoot at the U of M outdoor range in Rosemount. <br /> <br /> <br />X. OTHER ADMINISTRATIVE <br /> <br />This section will review the ongoing administrative issues and meetings during the <br />month. This includes meetings, policy issues, ordinance changes, and personnel issues. <br />And, this also includes meetings of a county wide, regional, and/or statewide basis on <br />public safety related issues. <br /> <br />The Minnesota Firefighter Initiative (MnFIRE), which recently provided awareness <br />training for New Brighton firefighters and their spouses/significant others about the <br />health topics of cancer, cardiac, and emotional wellness, has introduced legislation to <br />further address these job-related issues. <br /> <br />Public Safety received notice this week from Ramsey County District Court that the <br />suspect in a September 5, 2018 domestic assault incident at Garden View Apartments <br />who kicked a squad car door after his arrest was ordered to pay restitution to the City of <br />New Brighton for nearly $2,500 for the 1st Degree Criminal Damage to Property charge. <br /> <br />On March 21, Director Paetznick attended the monthly Board of Directors meeting for <br />the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association and also participated in a separate meeting of <br />the association’s first call for help group that provides physical, mental, and spiritual care <br />resource to police chiefs. <br /> <br /> <br />XI. RECOGNITION, NEWS AND INFORMATION <br /> <br />This section will include “good news” information about our public safety personnel. <br />This will include formal and informal recognition of the department and/or its personnel <br />on or off duty. <br />
