13 <br />VII. VOLUNTEER SERVICES <br /> <br />This section contains information on our various volunteer organizations related to Public <br />Safety. This includes the activities of the Public Safety Commission, Police Reserves, <br />Police Explorers, and Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS). <br /> <br />Activity for the month includes the following: <br /> <br />The New Brighton Reserve Unit recorded 497.3 hours for the month with Jim Fackler <br />recording 97 hours himself. <br /> <br />The Reserve Unit assisted with the annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 20. <br /> <br />The Reserve Unit held their annual volunteer banquet on April 28. <br /> <br />For their monthly training, the Reserve Unit had an Allina paramedic rig show up to <br />explore and go over the materials essential to their duties. <br /> <br />Congratulations to members of our agency’s Law Enforcement Explorer program who <br />earned 3rd place in Traffic Stop and 5th place for Traffic Crash Investigation during <br />scenario competitions at the 2019 Minnesota Law Enforcement Explorer Association <br />Conference in Rochester the last weekend of April. Thanks to Officer Slack, Officer <br />Riedel, and Officer Kostohryz for serving as advisors to this group. We appreciate your <br />ongoing investment in the next generation of public safety servants! <br /> <br /> <br />VIII. HOMELAND SECURITY AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT <br /> <br />This section will review ongoing activities for homeland security and emergency <br />management. This includes the activities of the New Brighton Community Emergency <br />Response Teams (CERT). <br /> <br />No activities to report.
