14 <br /> <br />IX. TRAINING <br /> <br />This section will review the training activities of our Public Safety personnel for the <br />month. <br /> <br />Sergeant Ed Sypniewski provided instruction in the firearms range for all licensed peace <br />officers during April. The focus of this month’s exercise was on reloading the agency’s <br />secondary/shoulder-fired weapons (UMP submachine gun and M4 rifle). <br /> <br />On Monday, April 8, firefighters took further advantage of the remaining two-story office <br />building at the city-owned Mateffy Engineering site to conduct search and rescue <br />activities inside the structure. <br /> <br /> <br />The Ramsey County Emergency Communications Center (ECC) held their first patrol <br />supervisor meeting on Monday, April 8, for Sergeants from the law enforcement agencies <br />served by the dispatch center. Sergeant Emerson represented New Brighton. The group <br />will meet every-other month. <br /> <br />Director Paetznick and Deputy Directors Olson & Hamdorf joined over 400 other law <br />enforcement leaders in Saint Cloud in April for the Minnesota Chiefs of Police <br />Association (MCPA) annual conference. Former New York City Police Commissioner <br />and Los Angeles Police Chief Bill Bratton was the concluding speaker of the event. <br /> <br />The Fire Division reviewed response procedures for grass/brush fires during their weekly <br />Monday night training, including a review of department apparatus/equipment for these
