15
types of incidents and visits to the high-hazard areas of New Brighton where the urban-
wildland interface most threatens residential and commercial structures, including around
Long Lake Regional Park and the Lake Jones property.

Firearms Instructor Sergeant Emerson conducted on-duty training, in the Public Safety
Center firearms range, for all licensed peace officers on Tuesday and Wednesday, April
23 and 24, focusing on shooting while moving. Officers also incorporated the use of the
collapsible baton during the scenarios as an additional force option.

Officer Sonterre attended and successfully completed a certification course in the
operation of the DMT (Intoxilyzer).

Nearly 35 firefighters attended the weekly Fire Division training drill on Monday, April
29, to receive a tour of the expanded Water Treatment Plant #1 from Public Works
Superintendent Scott Boller on his second-to-last day of work for the City of New
Brighton. They also celebrated Scott’s retirement with an ice cream treat.

X. OTHER ADMINISTRATIVE

This section will review the ongoing administrative issues and meetings during the
month. This includes meetings, policy issues, ordinance changes, and personnel issues.
And, this also includes meetings of a county wide, regional, and/or statewide basis on
public safety related issues.

The Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association (MCPA) hosted a legislative update for its
members on Tuesday, April 2, in the upper level training room of the Public Safety
Center. Director Paetznick and a number of other local police chiefs attended, but the
event was also livestreamed via the room’s technology upgrades that allowed chiefs from
across Minnesota to watch via MCPA’s weblink provided through CTV15 and participate
in the discussion.

On Thursday, April 4, Director Paetznick participated in a press event announcing the
Implementation Plan for Systems Change.

Through Public Safety’s partnership with the Ramsey County Emergency
Communications Center (ECC), public information about dispatch incidents has been
made available online via the county’s Open Data Portal. Select the Public Safety and
Justice link then scroll down to see the available data sets, including 911 Calls for
Service, Dispatch Incident Dashboard, ECC Incident Data, and Monthly Call Volume
Stats. https://opendata.ramseycounty.us/

Deputy Director Hamdorf assisted the City of Minneapolis on Friday, April 5, through
Monday, April 8, working in their police department’s multi-agency command center
(MACC) during the NCAA Final Four college basketball tournament.
