18
maintenance instructions and a helmet.

On Monday, April 29, Chris Rother officially began his duties as a part-time PSO for the
Police Division. Chris has been a member of the Fire Division since starting as a
firefighter in 2007 and has served as a Fire Captain for the past two years in addition to
being a member of the Police Reserve Auxiliary.

Congratulations to our very own paid-on-call firefighter Bob Reif who recently started
full-time employment with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety State Fire
Marshal Division as a Fire and Life Safety Educator/YFPI (Youth Firesetting Prevention
and Intervention Specialist). Bob’s 17 years of experience as a firefighter for New
Brighton along with his lengthy career as a public high school educator in the Spring
Lake Park district make him ideal for this position.

During the council meeting on April 9, Officer Austin Sonterre was read the oath
of office and officially sworn in as a police officer.

Congratulations to Firefighter Max Nundahl for leading all firefighters not employed full-
time with the City of New Brighton, responding to 21 out of 24 incidents last month or
87.5%! In addition, Deputy Director Hamdorf and Deputy Fire Chief Schute each only
missed one fire call last month, with their leading response percentages of 95.83% for
full-time city employees.
