3
Squads were dispatched to Irondale High School for a report of a fire alarm. Crews
arrived on scene and located heavy pressurized smoke in the basement indicating a
working fire. Mutual aid was requested from the Lake Johanna Fire Department and
closest unit aid was provided by the Fridley Fire Department. Crews connected to the
building fire suppression system and deployed 500 feet of attack hose line and were able
to extinguish the fire. Damage was contained to the area of origin thanks to a fire
sprinkler head in the vicinity of the fire. Crews spent approximately 90 minutes
ventilating smoke from the building.

On July 11 around at 5:30 pm, officers responded to Garden View Apartments on report
of a child at the bottom of the outdoor pool. The 911 caller was unable to swim and help
the child. Officer Griffin arrived first and after removing his ballistic vest and handing
off his firearm to the next arriving officer; Officer DeDominces, he dove into the pool
and recovered the victim who was unconscious and not breathing. Additional officers
assisted with lifesaving efforts and the 15-year old victim regained a pulse before being
transported to Children’s Hospital. The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office, who has
primary jurisdiction over all water-related incidents, investigated the case. Ultimately,
the child died a couple days later.

Officers responded to medical at a unit in the Innsbruck Villa Apartments on July 13
where a male reported that his wife had just given birth to a baby. The mother and
newborn were transported to the Maple Grove Hospital by Allina paramedics.

On Sunday, July 14 around 12:30 pm, New Brighton officers assisted Minnesota State
Troopers with an intoxicated male who was walking on the freeway near the juncture of
I-694 @ I-35W. The male went into a seizure and was provided medical care.

On July 13, Officer Xiong was on routine patrol when he observed two individuals
behind a closed business. As he approached, he observed one of the parties throw a small
bag. In the bag was a small amount of methamphetamine. The individual was booked
for Possession of a Controlled Substance.
