5 <br />Police were summoned to a residence on County Road D after an unwanted family <br />member knocked on the front door around 8 am on July 19. The 32-year old Maplewood <br />resident was found to have two outstanding felony warrants for his arrest and was also <br />wanted by the St. Paul Police Department for felony domestic assault by strangulation. <br />He was arrested and booked at the Ramsey County Jail. <br /> <br />Shortly before noon on July 19, officers responded to the 2400 block of 17th Avenue NW <br />on a death investigation. The 34-year old male homeowner was found deceased by a <br />family member from a suspected drug overdose. The Ramsey County Medical <br />Examiner’s Office removed the body from the scene. The death was reported to the <br />Overdose Detection Mapping Application Program. <br /> <br />A male assaulted his wife in their County Road D apartment around 4 am on July 16 but <br />fled before officers arrived. Later in the week, Officer Joe Pyka observed the suspect <br />shopping at a garage sale across the street from the Public Safety Center around 5:30 pm <br />on July 19. He was identified and arrested without incident, then taken to the Ramsey <br />County Jail for booking. <br /> <br />A New Brighton officer was asked to investigate a traffic crash involving an unmarked <br />vehicle from a law enforcement narcotics unit that was struck by a fleeing suspect on July <br />19 around 5:30 pm. The suspect had fled on foot but was apprehended nearby by agents <br />from the drug task force. <br /> <br />On July 19, New Brighton squads assisted St. Croix County WI with advising a son that <br />his father was killed in a motorcycle accident. <br /> <br />A resident in the 2500 block of 17th Street NW reported water coming from the second <br />story of a neighboring house around 9 pm on Saturday, July 20. Investigation determined <br />that the homeowner was out of a town and a toilet fixture had become disconnected, <br />causing extensive water damage inside. The utilities were disconnected. <br /> <br />At 1:30 am on July 21, officers responded to a residence in the Oak Grove community on <br />report of an adult male who was not conscious and not breathing. Lifesaving measures <br />were continued on the 24-year old male for over 30 minutes but he was eventually <br />declared dead. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office removed the body from <br />the scene to complete the investigation. <br /> <br />Officers responded to an 80-year old male who had collapsed and was unresponsive at a <br />residence in the 2300 block of Walnut Avenue around 4 am on Monday, July 22, and <br />started CPR. A pulse was eventually regained and the victim transported to Regions <br />Hospital but he died in the emergency room. <br /> <br />Around 11:45 am on July 23, Public Safety responded to the Habitat for Humanity <br />Restore on an electrical outlet on fire. Two customers used fire extinguishers to douse <br />the flames. An overloaded electrical circuit for displaying light fixtures had caught fire. <br />Power was shut off to the affected area. Firefighters ventilated the smoke from the <br />structure. <br /> <br />
