6
Around 2:15 pm on Wednesday, July 24, New Brighton Police assisted agents from the
Department of Corrections with arresting a wanted felon who had been living in the
Fountain Terrace Apartments.

On Wednesday, July 24, squads were dispatched to the 1500 block of Piper Dr regarding
a male who had been trespassed from the property. Routine checks showed the male had
two felony warrants for his arrest. Upon arriving in the area, the male fled from police on
foot. After a short foot pursuit, the male surrendered and was taken into custody. He was
booked at Ramsey County LEC for the outstanding warrants, Flee Police on Foot and
Trespassing.

On Thursday, July 25 around 1:30 pm, Officer DeDominces observed a motorcyclist on
Silver Lake Road @ 5th Street NW driving without required eye protection. When the
squad got closer to the suspect, without emergency lights even activated, the motorcyclist
accelerated between vehicles and drove through red lights in an apparent attempt to get
away from the officer. No pursuit of the suspect was initiated.

Officers responded to a residence on Rainbow Lane on Friday, July 26 about 2 pm, and
found an adult male in the basement who was unresponsive with shallow breathing.
Evidence of narcotics use was present nearby. Narcan was administered to the victim
and he eventually gained consciousness. He was able to walk upstairs to the ambulance
and was transported to the hospital for evaluation.

Around 11:30 pm on July 27, New Brighton officers assisted with a high-risk traffic stop
of a vehicle that was involved in a robbery in the City of Roseville where four suspects
had displayed handguns. St. Anthony and Roseville Police had pursued the vehicle until
it stopped at 34th Avenue NE and Stinson Boulevard where New Brighton squads helped
take the suspects into custody.

On July 30 about 7:30 am, New Brighton officers assisted with maintaining a perimeter
in the residential neighborhoods of Fridley and Columbia Heights after a murder suspect
wanted by Minneapolis Police fled from a crash near Menards on the I-694 frontage road.
Law enforcement from Hennepin and Anoka Counties conducted a ground search of the
area. The suspect eventually surrendered to police and was arrested without further
incident.

On July 30, Officer Pyka was investigating a gasoline drive-off at the Speedway station
on Silver Lake Road @ Rice Creek Road. He recalled the same vehicle being involved
with a drive-off using possible counterfeit currency the previous day at the other
Speedway gas station on Silver Lake Road @ County Road E, so he drove to the area of
where the registered owner of the vehicle lived. He located the vehicle and the suspect
matching the description. When questioned about the incident, the 35-year old Fridley
resident admitted to the theft. The suspect was found to have an outstanding gross
misdemeanor warrant for counterfeit currency out of Washington County. He was
booked at the Ramsey County jail for the theft and warrant.
