12 <br /> <br />VI. BIAS CRIME REPORTS <br /> <br />This section will contain any information regarding bias and/or hate crimes in the City of <br />New Brighton. <br /> <br />There were no bias crime reports this month. <br /> <br />VII. VOLUNTEER SERVICES <br /> <br />This section contains information on our various volunteer organizations related to Public <br />Safety. This includes the activities of the Public Safety Commission, Police Reserves, <br />Police Explorers, and Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS). <br /> <br />For the month of July, the Reserve unit worked 205 hours of volunteered time. <br /> <br />The Explorer unit conducted their monthly training where they utilized scenario based <br />training. <br /> <br />VIII. HOMELAND SECURITY AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT <br /> <br />This section will review ongoing activities for Homeland Security and Emergency <br />Management. This includes the activities of the New Brighton Community Emergency <br />Response Teams (CERT). <br /> <br />No items to note for the month of July. <br /> <br />IX. TRAINING <br /> <br />This section will review the training activities of our Public Safety personnel for the <br />month. <br /> <br />On July 16 and 17, agency Firearms Instructors Sgt. Emerson and Sgt. Sypniewski <br />conducted the annual POST-required qualification shoot for all handguns carried by <br />sworn officers, including secondary and off-duty weapons. In addition, retired <br />department members subject to the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA) also <br />completed their annual qualification. <br /> <br />Sgt. Sypniewski attended a training on advanced pistol techniques. <br /> <br />On July 10 thru July 12, Officer Pyka attended Field Sobriety testing class. <br /> <br />On July 22 thru July 26, Officer Layton attended a class in Nashville on Investigating <br />Drug Trafficking Organizations. <br /> <br />On July 29 thru July 31, Officer Amberg attended SWAT school as part of the Ramsey <br />County SWAT team.
