Firefighters
ventilated the structure before allowing residents back inside. Nobody was injured in the
incident. While firefighters were busy working the apartment fire, at a nearby building in
the same property, a resident reported that their 2-year-old child was stuck in a metal,
outdoor chair. The child was not injured. Sergeant Burt Emerson used a bolt cutter to
free the trapped child.

New Brighton officers assisted Troopers with searching the area of Innsbruck Villa
Apartments on Monday, September 2, after the State Patrol terminated a pursuit that
exited the freeway at Silver Lake Road. The unoccupied vehicle was found parked on
3rd Street NW but the suspect was not located.

Officers responded to Silver Oaks Court Apartments on Monday, September 2, around 7
pm on a noise complaint involving an intoxicated male listening to loud music outside the
building. When officers approached, he fled on foot but was soon apprehended. The 25-
year-old Brooklyn Center resident was booked at the Ramsey County Jail for fleeing
police on foot and public intoxication/open bottle in public.

A former employee of Creative Concrete on New Brighton Road was caught on a video
surveillance camera throwing a rock through the window of a work vehicle around 8:30
pm on Tuesday, September 3. He then entered the company van and appeared to be
rummaging around in the center console. The suspect was cited for criminal damage to
property and tampering with a motor vehicle.

On September 4, New Brighton squads assisted State Patrol with a Trooper who was
fighting with a person on the side of the road during rush hour. Upon our arrival, the
Troopers had the party in custody.

Highview Middle School SRO Farmer assisted with identifying a juvenile suspect who
stole a bike from the McDonald’s restaurant on Silver Lake Road around 4 pm on
Wednesday, September 4. Officer Pyka found the bike in the suspect’s yard and the
juvenile admitted to the crime. He was referred to Northeast Youth & Family Service for
diversion. The bike was returned to the victim.

Around 7 pm on Thursday, September 5, Officer Kostohryz struggled with an assault
suspect on a traffic stop on Silver Lake Road near I-694. With the assistance of other
officers, the suspect was arrested without the use of any weapons. Nobody was injured
during the altercation. The suspect was booked for obstructing legal process, 5th degree
assault, and disorderly conduct.

Officers responded to the County Road D apartments around 2 am on September 6 on a
31-year-old female who called 911 stating that she was suicidal with a razor blade and
hiding underneath a car in the parking lot.
