3 <br />On September 7, squads responded to a domestic were it was reported that shots had been <br />fired. Upon their arrival, squads found a 34 year old female deceased from an obvious <br />gunshot wound. Detectives and BCA Agents responded to investigate and process the <br />scene. While investigating the scene, the suspect was found deceased in the garage from <br />an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. <br /> <br />A 19-year-old Minneapolis resident, who only had an instruction permit and was driving <br />her vehicle alone, mistakenly stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake pedal while <br />in the parking lot of the Wells Fargo bank on Saturday, September 7, around 12:15 pm. <br />The vehicle traveled through a fence, down a hill, and struck a tree, causing extensive <br />damage to the car but no injuries to the driver. She was cited for violating an <br />instructional permit. Freeway Towing removed the vehicle from the scene. <br /> <br />Around 10:30 pm on Monday, September 9, New Brighton assisted with maintaining a <br />perimeter at Scotland Court Apartments for a suicidal female who was holding a gun to <br />her head inside a unit. Two negotiators from the Ramsey County SWAT team assisted <br />with communications. New Brighton officers were eventually cleared from the scene. <br />The incident was later resolved peacefully. <br /> <br />On September 10, New Brighton officers assisted Mounds View PD looking for an <br />assault suspect who maybe armed with a handgun. The party had fled prior to the arrival <br />of law enforcement. <br /> <br />An Enclave resident reported a package theft on Tuesday, September 10, around 9 pm. <br />Officer Wodnick located the “porch pirate” and arrested him along with booking the 23- <br />year-old Minneapolis resident at the Ramsey County Jail for an outstanding possession of <br />stolen property warrant. <br /> <br />Around 7 am on Wednesday, September 11, a resident in the 500 block of 9th Avenue <br />NW reported that his 2000 Honda Civic had been stolen from the driveway overnight. <br />The vehicle was later involved in a pursuit with the Minnesota State Patrol and Ramsey <br />County Sheriff’s Office on Highway 96 in White Bear Lake before crashing. The suspect <br />was arrested. <br /> <br />On September 11, New Brighton squads assisted State Patrol with an injury accident on <br />I-35W at County Road E2. <br /> <br />At around 11:30 pm on Thursday, September 12, the Police and Fire Divisions responded <br />to the 2400 block of Mounds Avenue on the report of a car that was on fire inside of an <br />attached garage. When arriving, it was found that the homeowner had extinguished the <br />fire with a garden hose. The Fire Division assisted in checking to be sure the fire didn’t <br />extend into the garage as well as removing the vehicle from the garage. There was no <br />extension beyond the vehicle. Nobody was injured, but the vehicle was likely a total loss. <br /> <br />Around 1:30 pm on Tuesday, September 17, Public Safety responded to the 600 block of <br />Riviera Drive on a natural gas odor. The road construction crew had struck a 2-inch <br />service line. Workers had also impacted an active water main, sending a geyser into the <br />air. Access to the break site was challenging, requiring firefighters to walk into the scene <br />with monitoring equipment as vehicles could not access the area due to the dirt roads.
