0405 Teacher, AVID, SS Specialty Areas 9008 Advanced Placement US History Military Service Start: 09/27/1988 -- End:02/26/1992 Start: 04/22/1994-- End: 04/21/1997 ACTIVITIES District AVID Trainer transformed conceptual understandings into usable strategies that were intentional, purposeful, repeatable, and lead to student success. Instructed teachers, counselors, and principles on how to assess the structures, processes, and systems needed to create gifted schools and college -ready cultures on their campuses. Teachers also learned specifically how to use the strategies they experience and practice during trainings to engage their students in daily instruction. Instructional Leadership Team Participated in performance management data meetings with network officials to analyze school data that led to a number of initiatives: Examined school -wide data on attendance and developed a variety of programs that increased overall attendance by 30% Led instructional rounds to identify best practices for increasing student engagement levels and then shared findings with full staff. Participated in research of grading methodologies to determine ways to improve student investment in their educational goals. Social Studies Department Chair Liaison with administration to evaluate departmental plans and concerns. Create agendas and established meeting protocols that maximized department collaboration time. Led re -organization of the social studies department into course teams that meet regularly and use data to inform instruction. Led professional development on the Performance Management data meeting format as prescribed by the schools. Supervised the creation of curriculum aligned to Common Core Standards and that utilized the principals of Project -Based Learning. Led selection and interview process for selecting new department team members. Worked with other departments to implement shared writing rubrics and coursework realignment. Train administrators, teachers, specialists and other educators in the use of the Student Information Systems and provide information to the District Superintendents regarding program needs, status, and recommendations for improvement Meet via technology or face to face with education directorate to review the current functionality of the Student Information Systems (SIS) for their respective areas of student data responsibility and identify any necessary modifications or enhancements. Utilize student information application software systems that support the collection, maintenance and reporting of K-12 school and district educational management data. Communicate with information technology student systems information personnel and education directorate student systems information subject matter expert for the proactive (troubleshooting) identification of areas for improvement/enhancement. Develop reports, filters or queries, etc., and retrieve and present data. Collect, manage, extract and analyze data for the support and evaluation of school district, and area wide education programs. Assess the system wide effectiveness in the defined program area(s) by monitoring the implementation of curriculum/performance standards. Develop goals and standards to include those that support the community strategic plan. Review student data stored in student information services to by demonstrating the knowledge to identify needed improvements which enhance data analysis. Prioritize all district student information services projects in collaboration with headquarters IT student information services personnel to include both short and long-term timelines. 4
