KSA's
International experience- After being honorably discharged from the military I became a teacher
working in Panama, Iceland and Belgium, I have been an elementary, middle and high school
teacher at an international (NATO/DOD) school with students from 32 different countries. My
role has been to deliver educational curriculum that will help all students be proficient enough to
be successful whether they go on to a U.S. university or back to their home country. I have
mentored students in their home country college entrance exams (i.e. Spain's Selectividad). This
is also an example of my Problem -solving skills. Helping students to overcome the challenges of
adapting to a new environment as well as helping educators, some being a first-time overseas
teaching is an important aspect of the ruling take on as acting principal. Being Adaptable to the
many environments and countries I have lived it's important skill that has increased overtime
with the knowledge I have gained from one being in the military and experiencing foreign
countries for one perspective and then becoming an educator and experiencing foreign countries
provide new and exciting perspective. My travels and the work I have done with students helping
increase my language skills. Living in Iceland I've become fluent in Icelandic from attending the
University of Iceland. Each year here in Belgium the students are my teachers and helping me to
increase my language skills and build my Networking and communication skills
1. Academic Accomplishment: An earned master's degree in educational leadership. Earned a
second master's in Secondary education. Earned a Doctoral degree in Principal leadership and
management
2. Curriculum Development and Program Evaluation: Participated in performance management
data meetings with network officials to analyze school data that led to a number of initiatives:
Examined school -wide data on attendance and developed a variety of programs that increased
overall attendance by 30% Led instructional rounds to identify best practices for increasing
student engagement levels and then shared finding with full staff. Participated in research of
grading methodologies to determine ways to improve student investment in their educational
goals.
3. Counseling: transformed conceptual understandings into usable strategies that were
intentional, purposeful, repeatable, and lead to student success. Instructed teachers, counselors,
and principles on how to assess the structures, processes, and systems needed to create gifted
schools and college -ready cultures on their campuses. Teachers also learned specifically how to
use the strategies they experience and practice during trainings to engage their students in daily
instruction.
