The Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission (PREC) The purpose of the PREC is to advise the City Council on matters concerning the proper use and care of parks and the natural environment and policies regarding recreation activities. City Code requires that the members of this commissions be residents of the City of New Brighton. Current Commissioners are: • Chair Matt Johnson (2021) • Gary Bank (2023) • Pauline Alfors (2023) • Vacancy (2023) • Abe McEathron (2021) • Amelia Kuiper (2022) • Charlie Warner (2022) • Julia O'Rourke (2021) • Mike Santi (2021) Commissioner Johnson and Commissioner O'Rourke's terms are ending and both have re-applied. Commissioners McEathron and Santi's terms also ended but they chose not to re -apply. The City Council will also be filling the remainder of the term left when Councilmember Axberg was elected to City Council. . Applicants who expressed interest in serving on the PREC are: • Ahmed Abdiwahed • Meghan Bakken • Lin Brown • Teresa Crowe • Kristin Hicks • Matt Johnson (Current commissioner re -applying to serve) • JoAnn Lindman (Also expressed interest in the Public Safety Commission) • Julia O'Rourke (Current commissioner re -applying to serve) • Brian Raver • Laura Sokol -Kraft • Michael Spooner (Also expressed interest in the EDC) Action Requested: Direct staff to prepare a resolution appointing four (4) of these individuals to the PREC for a three (3) year term each and one (1) of these individuals to the PREC for a two (2) year term ending March 31, 2023.
