The Economic Development Commission (EDC) <br />The purpose of the EDC is to advise the City Council on matters concerning industrial and commercial <br />development in the City of New Brighton. While City Code requires that the members of all other <br />commissions be residents of the City of New Brighton, City Code requires the membership of the EDC <br />be open to any resident or to any non-resident affiliated with a New Brighton business who is <br />interested in the business climate and economic direction of the City. While City Code also requires <br />that at least five (5) members must be New Brighton residents, that is not a concern at this time. <br />Current Commissioners are: <br />• Chair Harry Carter (2022) <br />• Bob Benke (2023) <br />• Jacqui Sauter (2023) <br />• Paul Zisla (2023) <br />• Anthony Pledger (2022) <br />• Bret Fynewever (2022) <br />• Max Nundahl (2022) <br />• Clint Kuipers (2021) <br />• Mike Murlowski (2021) <br />Commissioners Kuipers and Murlowski's terms are expiring. Commissioner Murlowski — a local <br />business owner— has re-applied for his term. Commissioner Kuipers has not. <br />Applicants who expressed interest in serving on the EDC are: <br />• John DuBose (Also expressed interest in the Planning Commission) <br />• Mike Murlowski (Current commissioner re -applying to serve) <br />• Michael Spooner (Also expressed interest in the PREC) <br />Action Requested: <br />Direct staff to prepare a resolution appointing two (2) of these individuals to the EDC for a three (3) <br />year term each. <br />
