Mr. Schlichting reviewed four crosswalk options: Option 1 — Static signage, Option 2 — Static <br />signage with push button activation of a flashing beacon, Option 3 — same as Option 2 but <br />includes in -pavement lighting, Option 4 — is called the Hawk where a push button activates the <br />lights requiring vehicles to stop. <br />Mr. Schlichting stated he would recommend Option 2 and the cost can be reimbursed by State <br />Aid. He would not recommend Option 3 or Option 4 for this crosswalk. <br />During discussion, Commissioner Eichers asked if it would be possible to install advance <br />warning lights to the east of this crosswalk. Commissioner Lamp asked if there would be plenty <br />of light at this crosswalk and if the timing of the flashing li hts be adjusted based on increased <br />crossing times by the senior citizens. <br />Commissioner Eichers made a motion to accept the recommendation of Mr. Schlichting of <br />proceeding with Option 2 for this crosswalk location; Commissioner Boyd seconded. <br />6 Ayes, 0 Nays; Motion Carried <br />Updates <br />A. Public Safety/Homeland Security Update <br />Director Jacobson reported our Annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner will be on Sunday, April <br />26, from 5 — 7 pm at the Community Center. This will be the first year of a combined <br />"Citywide" Volunteer Appreciation Dinner combining primarily with the Parks and Recreation <br />Department. Public Safety and Parks and Recreation will work together to coordinate this event <br />where we will expect 200+ people. <br />
