Director Jacobson reported Public Safety has been notified by the Office of Traffic Safety (OTC) <br />that we have been awarded a grant which will cover the costs of a full-time police officer <br />assigned to working DUI enforcement for up to four years. We are currently working through <br />details of this grant and will likely implement it in the next several weeks. This grant money is <br />coming from NITSA to reduce crashes and DWI's by focusing enforcement efforts for DWI's. <br />Commissioner Lamp asked if there was a way to compare the current year fire stats with last <br />year's stats. Staff will check into this. <br />Commissioner Lamp asked if our department has received any negative comments, etc., from <br />recent events. Director Jacobson stated not from members of our community. He thinks we <br />have gotten more positive feedback because of some of these events. Commissioner Boyd stated <br />he is very impressed with the monthly report provided and stated the edia reports on so much <br />negative stuff when there is so much positive. <br />Council Liaison <br />A. Council Report <br />Council Member Burg reported the 2015 City Budget is now posted on the web site. <br />Council Member Burg noted a topic of discussion at the recent Council Retreat was where are <br />we going and what is next for our city. The Council will meet with the Economic Development <br />Commission (EDC) to discuss ideas of what the City should focus on. <br />The Town Hall meeting is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, at the Coity Center, starting at <br />8:00 am. <br />The Neighborhood Meetings will be changed up this year and be held at different locations; not <br />just at neighborhood centers. The first Neighborhood Meeting will be held at Applewood Point; <br />date and time to be determined. <br />The 2015 Health and Fitness Expo was held on January 10th from 9:30 am — 1:30 pm at the <br />Community Center; there were 46 vendors and over 900 people attended. <br />Old Business <br />None. <br />New Business <br />None. <br />Adiourn <br />Commissioner Hollimon made a motion to adjourn the January Public Safety Commission <br />meeting; seconded by Commissioner Lamp.
