NEW BRIGHTON building tomorrow today MINUTES Public Safety Commission January 13, 2020 City Hall Council Chambers 6:30 p.m. L Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Hollimon. II. Roll Call: Members Present: Commissioners Robert Boyd, William Cook, Amina Ghouse (arrived at 6:35 p.m.), Geoff Hollimon, Tanya Kessler, Stephanie Kitzhaber, Stephanie Malone, Karen Wagner, and Ache Wakai. Members Absent: None. Also Present: Director Tony Paetznick, Mayor Valerie Johnson and Dave Matteson (Allina Health). III. Approval of Agenda Motion by Kessler, seconded by Wagner to approve the January 13, 2020 agenda as presented. Motion carried 8-0. IV. Approval of Minutes Motion by Kessler, seconded by Malone to approve the December 9, 2019 minutes as presented. Motion carried 8-0. V. Presentations and Public Hearings A. Parking Regulations & Sign Requests — Tony Paetznick, Public Safety Director Director Paetznick reviewed the City's parking regulations and discussed how sign requests are made. He noted parking citations were up for the Public Safety Department. He described how his department works to educate the public on the City's parking requirements noting quarterly articles are included in the City's newsletter. He reported two formal sign request would be coming before the Commission in February. He noted the first request would be to address the parking concerns surrounding the multi -family apartment complex known as Fountain Terrace. He commented further on the parking concerns along 1St Avenue. It was noted parking was not allowed on the West side of 1 St Avenue. Director Paetznick reported the second sign request would be to address the semi -truck parking along Campus Drive. He indicated he would be speaking with the DCAD department to address safety concerns in this area.
