Park. It is a 5k/10k snow shoe event. They have also added a 5k walk with your <br />dog, and sled events. January 25th there will be an ice fishing contest. Is has <br />been taking place for 60 some years. Tickets are available at the Lake or at <br />Beisswenger's. <br />B. Chair Updates <br />Recent resignations of PREC members leaves 2 positions open for this <br />Commission. Please encourage interested parties to apply. <br />C. Commission Reports on Parks <br />Driftwood: Parker. No report. <br />Freedom: Brunell. Park looked in good shape, crew was sweeping ice. <br />Hansen: Fields. Some lights not working. 3 on trail and 1 at hockey rink. <br />Hidden Oaks: Frischman. No report. Chris Wolla said in the fall they did work to <br />prevent driving on the field. <br />Innsbruck: Kunesh-Podein. Looked fine. <br />Meadow Wood: Eischen. No report. <br />Silver Oaks No report. <br />Sunny Square/Veterans: CM Liaison Strub. No report. <br />Totem Pole No report. <br />Vermont: Cook — Absent. <br />D. Department Happenings / upcoming events <br />• Coach bus took 56 adults 55+ to the Porterhouse Steakhouse for lunch <br />and tour of the Governor's Mansion on December 16. This was the <br />largest day trip planned only through the City of New Brighton in more <br />than four years. <br />• Duplicate Bridge had the largest group ever present for their holiday party <br />at 18 tables which equates to 72 people. <br />• City Forester trimming trees. <br />• Dance show — 57 children participated at Sunnyside. <br />• Gymnastic classes 62 children demonstrated skills to their parents and <br />grandparents. <br />• Facility rentals increased 11 % in 2014 from record year in 2013. <br />• Attendance for the Community Center was at 473,888 for 2014. <br />Christmas week, 906 kids that week. The following week, 1,955. Fri. that <br />week, we had 521 kids in the Eagles Nest. <br />• The library numbers down a bit for computer use and new cards. <br />Attendance down a bit in the library. Most libraries have seen lower <br />numbers. <br />Director Breuer wanted to make sure to invite all of the PREC members and <br />viewing audience to the 10th annual Health and Wellness Fair on Saturday. 40 <br />vendors will be present. New members receive discount. <br />Council Member Strub wanted Director Breuer and her staff know how grateful <br />he is and the entire city is that revenue and bookings at the Community Center is <br />up. He thanked everyone for their hard work. <br />Chair Frischman stated the next meeting is February 4, 2015. Encourage people <br />to apply for this Commission. <br />IX.
