Minutes of February 4, 2015 <br />MOTION BY COMMISSIONER KUNESH-PODEIN, SECONDED BY, KEVIN <br />FIELDS, TO APPROVE THE FEBRUARY 4, 2015 MINUTES AS SUBMITTED. <br />MOTION CARRIED. <br />IV. Correspondence <br />None. <br />V. Old Business <br />None. <br />VI. New Business <br />a. 2014 Targeted Watershed Demonstration Program / Hansen Park — Kyle <br />Axtell, Water Resource Specialist, Rice Creek Watershed District <br />Mr. Axtell provided some background information: <br />• The Hansen Pond & Dam were built by New Brighton in 1969. <br />• The Rice Creek Watershed District was founded in 1972. <br />• RCWD Long Lake Chain of Lakes Projects (1970's). <br />• SW Urban Lakes Study (2009) Hansen Park identified, among <br />others. Focus on high priority regional projects for water quality. <br />• July 11 Super Storm dropped over 7" of rain in 4 hours. Hansen <br />identified as critical location for flood control. <br />• Basic Water Management Project Petition (2013). St. Anthony, <br />New Brighton and Roseville. RCWD and Cities agree to pursue <br />multi-purpose water quality and flood control projects. <br />• RCWD to achieve overlapping objectives between the 3 cities for <br />flood control and water quality. <br />• Hansen Park multi-purpose water quality and flood control project <br />would likely be the top regional project pursued as part of the <br />approved R.C. Ditches 2, 3 & 5 Basic Water Management Project <br />petition process ... even without the TWD grant. Received a large <br />$3 million dollar grant from the State to help implement these <br />projects.
