Concept Projects: mid. Rice Creek ($875K), <br />Carp Management. ($425K), Mirror Pond ($1.1 M), Hansen Park <br />($4.8M). Estimated Budget $7,200,000. <br />• Hansen Existing Conditions <br />• Hansen Park Concept Plan <br />o Dredging project; helps water quality, flood control and <br />removing contamination. <br />o Re -grading of Island; may provide a boardwalk and trail that <br />actually crosses the pond. <br />• Project Benefits: <br />o Annual total phosphorus removal: 184-914 lbs. <br />0 16.4 acre-feet removed from Long Lake flood peak window <br />o Decreased peak water elev. At 10th St. NW (Polynesian <br />Village) <br />■ 1.11 feet for 10 year event (from 873.82 to 872.71) <br />■ .15 feet for 100 year event (from 877.74 to 877.59) <br />o Improve access & reduce cost of future pond maintenance <br />o Substantial opportunity for education in heavily used City <br />park <br />o Reduced frequency and/or duration of trail flooding <br />o Flood protection for adjacent homes on NW side of park <br />o Create new boardwalk/trail access across island <br />o Opportunity for City to improve or modify ballfields and trail. <br />Trails may be raised to prevent flooding. One field may be <br />utilized for storage material. It would be unavailable for use <br />for one season. The dam would be reconstructed as well. <br />• Upcoming Project Schedule <br />o March 04: New Brighton PREC Meeting, Review concept <br />plan, obtain additional feedback. <br />o March 24: New Brighton City Council Meeting, review final <br />concept & approve MOA. <br />o March 25: RCWD Board Meeting, Public hearing: review <br />final concept & preliminary cost estimates.
