Hidden Oaks Park Shelter (CAT)

Chair Frischman inquired of the Commission their thoughts, ideas on Hidden Oaks shelter.
 There was an inquiry of whether we could encourage more use of that building.
Director Breuer stated there are the Neighborhood Centers and other facilities
that are better for rentals.
 The building is not very attractive.
 If the building was not there, you could see more of the park amenities.
 The building was in poor shape at the last park tour and probably has
deteriorated more now.
 Could the area where the building is taken down be re-purposed?
 If we consider taking Hidden Oaks down, we may also consider taking Driftwood
down. They were both built about the same time and both are due for reroofing
so there would be money available to do both.

Chair Frischman commented that right now is a good time for the removal of
shelter buildings with the budgetary dollars available and it would help with safety
and reducing opportunities for damage.

MOTION BY COMMISSIONER FIELDS, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER
COOK, TO REMOVE BOTH HIDDEN OAKS AND DRIFTWOOD SHELTERS
USING THE FUNDS CURRENTLY BUDGETTED FOR ROOF REPLACEMENT
FOR THE REMOVAL COSTS OF THE TWO SHELTERS. MOTION CARRIED.

VII. Trails, Bike and Walk-ways
Chair Frischman commented that as we are looking forward to future meetings, we
would want to include that boardwalk that is slated by the Rice Creek Watershed
District. Perhaps we want to go a step further to address the trail that is on the north
