Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm by Chair Mary Kunesh -Podein. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call <br />Members present: Commissioners Brunell, Eischen, Fields, Justin, Kunesh-Podein, <br />McEathron, Parker, Stenglein, Council Liaison Jacobsen (sitting in for Council Member <br />Burg) <br />Members absent: Commissioner Frischman <br /> <br /> III. Minutes of July 1, 2015 <br />MOTION BY COMMISSIONER BRUNELL, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />FIELDS TO APPROVE THE MINUTES AS SUBMITTED. MOTION CARRIED. <br /> <br />IV. Old Business <br />None <br /> <br />V. New Business <br />a. Membership Rates at NBCC – Heidi Sedlacek, Recreation Supervisor <br /> <br /> Heidi Sedlacek, Recreation Supervisor, presented information to the Parks, <br /> Recreation and Environmental Commission on membership rates at the New <br />Brighton Community Center. Recreation Supervisor Sedlacek stated she <br />would like to talk about a recommendation for a 2016 8% membership fee <br />increase at the NBCC and a change in how we process health insuran ce <br />reimbursements. Comparison charts were provided between New Brighton <br />and various cities throughout the metro area. The extra revenue received <br />from the membership fee increase would be allocated to the general fund in <br />2016. Also discussed was the proposed change in how health insurance <br />reimbursements would be processed. All of our transactions would be <br />handled through a third party vendor, Vanco. Most of our reimbursements <br />are already handled through Vanco; we would add one more processing step <br />for them. The NBCC would like to start the new process by January 1, 2016. <br />There would be an extra $250 paid to Vanco, per year, for this added service <br />they would be providing. We feel that would be made up in just a couple of <br />months by saving on our staff time monitoring client memberships. <br /> <br /> An inquiry came asking if it was expected there may be loss of revenue <br />because of possible loss of memberships. Recreation Supervisor Sedlacek <br />stated it will be difficult to predict if memberships will be lost because of this <br />increase. <br /> <br /> Recreation Supervisor Sedlacek stated we are a member of a consortium of <br />health clubs. It is called NIHCA (National Independent Health Clubs <br />Association). We have worked with NIHCA for a number of years. As a <br />APPROVED
