Paetznick, Director of Public Safety <br />CITY MANAGER'S APPROVAL: <br />No comments to supplement this report Comments attached <br />Recommendation: Adopt the proclamation designating May 9 through May 15, 2021 as National <br />Police Week in the City of New Brighton. <br />Legislative History: The City has previously proclaimed this week as National Police Week. <br />President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation in 1962 designating May 15th <br />as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which it falls as Police Week. <br />Financial Impact: n/a <br />Explanation: Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week is an observance in the United <br />States that pays tribute to the local, state, and federal peace officers who have <br />died, or who have been disabled, in the line of duty. Traditionally, Suburban <br />Ramsey County Law Enforcement Agencies have formally recognized and <br />participated in National Police Week by honoring the sacrifice of law <br />enforcement officers with a local memorial ceremony that, unfortunately, for <br />the second -consecutive year has been canceled due to the COVID-19 global <br />pandemic. <br />6� X ptz �- <br />Anthony S.
