aNEW <br /> BRIGHTON <br /> building tomorrow today <br /> Council Worksession <br /> April 23, 2019 <br /> 5:30 pm <br /> Present: Mayor Valerie Johnson <br /> Councilmember Graeme Allen <br /> Councilmember Mary Burg <br /> Councilmember Emily Dunsworth (arrived at 6:08 p.m.) <br /> Councilmember Paul Jacobsen <br /> Absent: <br /> Staff in Attendance: Dean Lotter, Terri Spangrud <br /> Guests in Attendance: Youssef Enanaa and Salat Tuke <br /> Commissioner Interviews <br /> Mayor Johnson welcomed Youssef Enanaa. <br /> Councilmember Jacobsen asked Youssef to tell the Council a little bit about himself and his experiences in the <br /> community. <br /> Youssef Enanaa explained he has worked for Allina for the past 15 years in the compliance department, <br /> dealing with policies and procedures. He stated he used to live in northeast Minneapolis. He noted he has been <br /> involved in the school system as he has two kids in the public school system. He indicated he has served as an <br /> election judge for the past two years. <br /> Councilmember Burg asked why he had decided to apply to serve on a City Commission. <br /> Mr. Enanaa commented he would like to be more involved in the community while also applying his <br /> professional background to the position. He liked to work towards a consensus where everybody is happy in <br /> the end. He stated this would be a new challenge for him. <br /> Councilmember Allen asked why he would be a good person to represent the community and advise the City <br /> Council. <br /> Mr. Enanaa indicated he has been around a lot of professionals and county employees, etc. while working for <br /> Allina on controlled substance matters. He commented further on how he worked on issues that impacted the <br /> community. <br /> Mayor Johnson asked what the most important responsibilities a commission member had to the community. <br /> Mr. Enanaa stated he believed it was important for a person to be trustworthy, honest and respectful. He <br /> commented on how it would be important for a commission member to be the equilibrium between all of the <br /> stakeholders. He believed it was important to offer insights while properly managing time. <br />
