Councilmember Jacobsen asked how he would respond if a member of the community were to contact him <br /> ' 1 expressing opposition to an item being addressed by your commission. <br /> Mr. Enanaa explained he viewed the opinion as a group decision and not as a single opinion. He commented <br /> 1 he would refer this person to the entire committee in order to discuss their opposition. He believed this would <br /> be the most efficient manner to address the situation. <br /> Councilmember Jacobsen asked if these actions would change if it was a lifelong friend. <br /> Mr. Enanaa stated he would still act in the same manner. He indicated it would not matter if this person was a <br /> close friend or neighbor. <br /> Councilmember Burg reported each commission is tasked with making recommendations to the City Council. <br /> She asked how Mr. Enanaa would respond if he disagreed with a policy or Ordinance already in place. <br /> Mr. Enanaa stated he would raise his concerns, but in the end, this was a City Council decision. He <br /> commented he would try to address the issue but wanted to be sure all stakeholders were being properly <br /> served. <br /> Councilmember Allen asked what the City's biggest challenges were. <br /> Mr. Enanaa indicated this was a nice community compared to others in the Twin Cities. He stated the broad <br /> view was to keep the community up to date, as far as environmental and historical issues. He explained <br /> challenges always pop up, people with differing views and trying to preserve and grow the community was <br /> important. <br /> Mayor Johnson discussed the process the Council would be following for the committee member <br /> appointments. She thanked Mr. Enanaa for his interest in serving and asked if he had any questions. <br /> Mr. Enanaa stated he did not have any questions at this time. He commented he was excited about this <br /> opportunity. <br /> Councilmember Allen asked if Mr. Enanaa would be available to attend Planning Commission meetings. <br /> Mr. Enanaa explained he understood the Planning Commission met on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 <br /> p.m. and noted he did not have a conflict at this time. <br /> Mayor Johnson welcomed Salat Tuke. <br /> Councilmember Burg asked Salat to tell the Council a little bit about himself and his experiences in the <br /> community. <br /> Salat Tuke stated he has lived in New Brighton for the past three years. Previously, he lived in Bloomington <br /> where he did some diversity work in the community. He indicated he spent ten years with US Bank reviewing <br /> commercial loans. He noted he had an MBA in Business Administration and a BA from Metro State <br /> University. He explained he had two kids and a wife. <br /> Councilmember Allen asked why he had decided to apply to serve on a City Commission. <br /> Mr. Tuke stated he was very involved in the community, especially in Bloomington. He stated he worked with <br />
