RESOLUTION NO. 2 01 9—1 1 9 <br /> State of Minnesota <br /> County of Ramsey <br /> City of New Brighton <br /> RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE 2020 WATER METER REPLACEMENT PROCESS AND FEES FOR NON-COMPLIANT <br /> PROPERTIES <br /> Whereas, the City Council authorized a citywide water meter replacement process that began <br /> August 20, 2018; and <br /> Whereas,the replacement of roughly 5,300 water meters have been completed by November <br /> 2019; and <br /> Whereas, after several communication attempts by the City and the contractor, there are <br /> several hundred properties still out of compliance; and <br /> Whereas, the devices used to read our old meters are no longer available and our equipment <br /> can no longer be repaired, the City is committed to achieving 100%compliance by the end of 2020; <br /> and <br /> Now, therefore be it resolved: <br /> 1. Notification of the proposed process and fees will be sent to all remaining non-compliant <br /> properties by December 20, 2019 <br /> 2. Starting with those properties included in the February billing cycle, a $125 Refundable No- <br /> Read fee placed on the account along with current usage charges. <br /> 3. If no meter change out occurs by the second billing cycle, a $200 Non-Refundable Non- <br /> Compliance fee placed on the account along with current usage charges. <br /> 4. Water Shut-Off with notification using a door tag placed at the property if no change out <br /> occurs by the third utility billing cycle. <br /> Adopted this 10th day of December 2019 by the NeW Brighton City Council with a vote of S ayes <br /> and O nays. <br /> Valerie Johnson, Mayor <br /> Attest: <br /> De assop st, ting City Manager <br /> Terri Spangrud, Cit Clerk <br />
