Challenges to be addressed in our communications: Social media <br /> • Our communications generally reaches a mainstream audience and platforms can <br /> does not reach populations in our community that normally does not <br /> interact with government. change frequently, <br /> • The City has not regularly invested in communicating in languages requiring the City <br /> other than English. to stay on top of <br /> • Many of the City's Communication tools rely on access to internet or best practices and <br /> cable television. <br /> • While the City can provide information, the City cannot the latest trends. <br /> guarantee the targeted audiences will receive or interact with the <br /> communication. <br /> • Funding restrictions and staffing limitations may limit some types of <br /> communication efforts. <br /> • Social media platforms can change frequently, requiring the City to <br /> stay on top of best practices and the latest trends. <br /> • Inviting feedback through social media platforms encourages <br /> engagement but leaves the City vulnerable to negative messages <br /> from the public. <br /> • In a time when relationships with the press is very important, there is <br /> no local newspaper that covers events in the City on a regular basis. <br /> • We need to be more intentional about cohesive branding and <br /> messaging from all departments and communicators. <br /> • We need to take care that we are being proactive about our <br /> messaging.
