June 8,2021 Page 4 of 5 <br /> Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas asked if there has been messaging with those living within the Midtown Village <br /> area that this playground would a community park Parks and Recreation Director Fink stated Director <br /> Schlichting has worked with the developer on this park She commented there would be clear signage at the <br /> new playground that this was a City park She indicated there was another small play structure within the <br /> development that was just for Midtown Village residents. <br /> Motion by Councilmember Abdulle,seconded by Councilmember Allen to authorize the purchase <br /> of the equipment and installation of the playground structure at Midtown Village by MN- <br /> WI Playground. <br /> A roll call vote was taken. <br /> 4 Ayes,0 Nays-Motion Carried <br /> Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates Commission Liaison <br /> Reports, <br /> Devin Massopust Announcements and <br /> Updates <br /> City Manager Massopust reported staff began working with CultureBrokers to further the <br /> City's DEI efforts. He explained on June 26th and June 27th the City would be hosting the <br /> Second Annual Chalk Festival at Veterans Park. He commented artists were being accepted at <br /> this time. <br /> Graeme Allen <br /> Councilmember Allen reported the Public Safety Commission will meet next on June 14th at <br /> 6:30 p.m. He encouraged residents to consider getting their vaccination at the Community <br /> Center as walk ins were now welcome every Wednesday. <br /> Pam Axberg <br /> Councilmember Axberg reported the EDC met on Wednesday, June 2nd where the group <br /> discussed the work plan for 2021-2022. She indicated the group also discussed housing related <br /> issues based on the dialogue that was held with ULI. <br /> Abdullahi Abdulle <br /> Councilmember Abdulle reported the Planning Commission would meet next Tuesday on June <br /> 15th. He stated he would not be able to attend this meeting and would need another <br /> Councilmember to step in as the Council Liaison. <br /> Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas <br /> Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas congratulated the Class of 2021. She reported the League of Women <br /> Voters has a need for members. She noted this group would be holding their annual convention <br /> this weekend and was encouraged those interested to attend this event. She stated the City has <br /> been invited to join the farmer's market on a regular table every week. She indicated a <br /> member of the City Council and staff member would be present each week at the farmers <br /> market to meet with the public. She encouraged the public to ask questions and speak with the <br /> City Council and staff members at the farmer's market. She noted she would be hosting a <br /> Mayor's Conversation next week and information about this event would be posted on social <br /> media. She encouraged students to consider becoming involved in their local government by <br /> serving as a Student Commissioner. Those interested should contact City Hall for further <br /> information. <br />
