September 28, 2021 Page 4 of 4 Resolution Approving a Special Use Permit Amendment and Variance for Global ' Academy to Authorize a Gymnasium Addition to the Existing Campus at 3000 5th Street NW. 5 Ayes, 0 Nays -Motion Carried Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates Devin Massopust City Manager Massopust reported on October 10 the first annual Tails on the Trails event would be held in Hansen Park from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. He stated on October 25 there would be a Public Safety Open House from 6:00 p.m. at 8:00 p.m. at the Public Safety Center. He noted on October 30 the second annual Pumpkin Walk would be held at Veterans Park from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Graeme Allen Councilmember Allen reported the Public Safety Commission would meet next on Monday, October 11. He stated he had a great time attending Music of the Night, which was the 2021 marching band competition at Irondale High School. He congratulated Mayor Niedfeldt- Thomas for receiving the 2021 Irondale Marching Knights Outstanding Alumni of the Year Award. Emily Dunsworth Councilmember Dunsworth reported Nine North would be hosting an Open House on Thursday, September 30 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Pam Axberg Councilmember Axberg reported the EDC would be meeting next on Wednesday, October 6. Abdullahi Abdulle Councilmember Abdulle reported the Zoning Code Steering Committee met last Wednesday and reviewed three chapters of the code. He explained the Planning Commission met on Tuesday, October 21 where two items were reviewed. Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas wished Councilmember Axberg a happy belated birthday. She noted the North Metro Mayors met in New Brighton recently and discussed joint purchasing powers. She noted the upcoming legislative session would begin in a few short months and she encouraged the Council to begin considering which items should be brought to the legislatures attention. She then discussed a soccer game she attended in the community. She noted she attended a meeting with the superintendent of the Mounds View School District with the City Manager where she discussed partnership opportunities.
