December 14, 2021 Page 6 of 6 <br />Abdullahi Abdulle <br />Councilmember Abdulle reported it was great to see the support and camaraderie that has been <br />1 established between the City Council and staff. He indicated the Planning Commission would <br />be meeting on Tuesday, December 21. He commented further on a town hall he attended with <br />other immigrant elected officials. He stated he was grateful to be serving with this City Council <br />and stated he was proud of the work that was completed in 2021. He explained he was proud of <br />the fact the City had hired a DEI Coordinator and stated he looked forward to supporting his <br />efforts, along with the efforts of the Equity Commission going forward. He stated it has been a <br />privilege to serve the community and he looked forward to 2022. <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas reported she was thankful for the comments she was receiving from <br />the residents of New Brighton. She thanked the Public Safety Department for providing care to <br />those who were in need of assistance. She stated she was excited to see the number of people <br />who had applied to the Equity Commission. She appreciated the energy and level of <br />engagement that was occurring in the community at this time. She thanked staff for all of their <br />work this past year. She explained she was grateful to the City Council for their effort to speak <br />up regularly while treating each other with respect. She thanked the organizations that <br />supported and built community in New Brighton. She encouraged residents to stay safe and <br />get boosted.
