FRIDLEY ENERGY ACTION PLAN <br /> <br />22 <br />Focus Area: Residential Energy <br /> Translate materials into other languages, such as Somali and Spanish. <br />o Identify nonprofit and service organizations to share and support <br />translated materials and program offerings. <br />o Partner with leaders in language communities to help ensure messaging <br />will resonate with community. <br /> Partner with local businesses where home improvement or construction materials <br />are purchased to display informational materials. <br /> Use existing communication channels and community events to share materials <br />and information. <br />Strategy 2: Integrate energy efficiency language into existing points of City <br />communications; and train staff to share message with residents. <br />Actions: <br /> Update Home Loan Program application, website, and program marketing to <br />emphasize energy efficient improvements. <br /> Include energy efficient information in Building Permit display and application <br />materials. <br /> Create energy efficiency inserts for water utility bills. <br />Strategy 3: Partner with schools and community groups to reduce energy use by <br />promoting behavior change. <br />Actions: <br /> Partner with school district to reach senior citizens and senior center on actions <br />they can take at home. <br /> Partner with local Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops to do energy badge activity. <br /> Create materials and messaging scouts can share with their family. <br /> Design energy efficiency course with Community Education and offer course <br />during one session. <br />Strategy 4: Conduct marketing and outreach specifically targeting under- <br />resourced households. <br />Actions: <br /> Create materials summarizing income-qualified program options from all utilities <br />and local service providers. <br /> Collaborate with local food shelves and other service providers to reach under- <br />resourced populations. <br />o Distribute marketing campaign materials at their locations and events. <br />o Co-brand materials with service providers. <br /> Establish partnerships with property managers at income-eligible multifamily <br />buildings to share informational materials. <br /> Leverage existing contacts, networks, and events to reach under-resourced <br />residents. <br /> <br />Implementation Partners <br />The following partners were identified as needed to help with implementation of <br />residential energy strategies:
