<br /> <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION: CONSIDERATION OF APPROVAL OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND <br />AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR CITY PROJECT 22‐1, 2022 STREET REHABILITATION <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD’S APPROVAL: Craig Schlichting, Director of Community Assets and Development <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER’S APPROVAL: <br />No comments to supplement this report ___ Comments attached ___ <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />To approve the plans and specifications for Public Improvement Project 22‐1, 2022 Street Rehabilitation <br />and authorize staff to advertise for bids. <br /> <br />Legislative History: <br />December 14, 2021 City Council adopted a resolution ordering staff to prepare a Feasibility Study for <br />City Project 22‐1, 2022 Street Rehabilitation. <br /> <br />February 17, 2022 An informational meeting was held with residents and business owners to be <br />affected by this proposed project. Information about this meeting is included in <br />the Feasibility Study. <br /> <br />March 8, 2022 City Council authorized purchase of fire hydrants and gate valves. <br /> <br />March 22, 2022 City Council accepted the Feasibility Study for Project 22‐1, 2022 Street <br />Rehabilitation and set the Public Improvement Hearing for April 12, 2022. <br /> <br />April 12, 2022 Public Improvement Hearing held and City Council ordered City Project 22‐1, <br />2022 Street Rehabilitation. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br />The total estimated project cost is $3,184,900. The Feasibility Study contains cost estimates, cost <br />breakdowns, and recommended funding. <br /> <br />Explanation: <br />The purpose of this item is to advance the project to the next step, which is to publicly advertise for <br />bids. Bids are tentatively scheduled to be opened mid‐May, with construction to take place during the <br />summer of 2022. This project consists of the rehabilitation of approximately 1.78 miles of streets by the <br />removal of the existing bituminous surface, removal and replacement of sections of concrete curb and <br />Agenda Section: Consent <br />Report Date: April 19, 2022 <br />Council Meeting Date: April 26, 2022
