The number of grant applications and
recipients has grown steadily over time, as has funding through the Clean Water, Land and Legacy
Amendment. As a result, the Metropolitan Council announced they would again allocate up to $1
million to eligible water suppliers through June 30, 2024. Cities and townships served by a
municipal water supply system are eligible for grant funding of up to $50,000 to reduce costs for
residents, commercial properties, and government facilities that purchase and install replacement
water‐efficient products. Eligible purchases include toilets, washing machines, dishwashers, and
irrigation system controls.

On May 5, 2022, the Department of Community Assets and Development received notice that the
submitted grant application was accepted and the City was awarded a total of $28,000. Staff
proposes a continuation of past programs, which utilizes the grant funding to replace outdated
toilets in multi‐family properties with new high‐efficiency models.

AGENDA SECTION: Consent
REPORT DATE: May 19, 2022
MEETING DATE: May 24, 2022
