<br /> <br />Design Circle for the 911 response initiative. He indicated he was on boarding a part-time <br />Public Safety Officer who was recruited from the Mounds View School District and he had <br />two Police Officers that were in the field training phase. He hoped these two officers would <br />be on solo patrol yet this summer. He explained he would be looking to fill several other <br />vacancies within the department later this spring. He reported on Tuesday, April 26 Officer <br />DeAndre Clark would be sworn in at the City Council meeting. He noted all Commission <br />members would be welcome to attend this event. <br /> <br />Director Paetznick reminded the Commissioners that the City’s Annual Training would be <br />held on Thursday, April 28 at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. <br /> <br />C. City Council Update – Graeme Allen, Councilmember <br /> <br />Councilmember Allen provided the Commission with an update from the City Council. He <br />discussed several issues that were being considered by the State Legislature. He noted the <br />City was working to evaluate its wage and benefits for employees. He commented on the <br />sustainability efforts the City was pursuing which included being a tree City for over 40+ <br />years. He discussed the open house that was held for the Old Highway 8 redesign project <br />noting this roadway would be redone in 2023. Further discussion ensued regarding the <br />design plans for Old Highway 8. He stated the City recently received a Minnesota <br />Brownfield Re-Scape Award and several other grants for the Micron building. He reported <br />the street sweepers would be out sweeping the City in the coming weeks. <br /> <br />The Commission asked what was being done to seek additional members for the Public <br />Safety Commission. Councilmember Allen stated he would be speaking with the Mayor <br />about the two vacancies on the Public Safety Commission. <br /> <br />VII.
